When disaster strikes it is sudden and earth-shattering. Often those affected by it talk about how their lives have radically changed, how peace of mind has evaporated and been replaced by worry and catastrophic expectations. They describe their post-disaster reality as living life “upside down”. They live in a state of confusion with pervasive anxiety and a feeling of helplessness. Disasters are a mass environmental stress that affect a large number of people.

After disaster strikes victims never feel the same. Their inner sense of safety and stability of their environment is gone. Some also speak about feeling lost; the structure of their daily lives and associated routines shattered. The emotional distress caused by the abrupt depletion of resources and altered physical environments has affected them greatly.

There are many groups and organizations that answer the call to these disaster victims left powerless by these catastrophies. 'Scrolls of Hope' has recognized the need to join and help these people. We have created a program where you can help us send gifts of hope. Your contribution towards this program will help others recover their lives.

Each package contains a variety of items that will help in most emergency situations. It includes basic personal hygiene items, towels, a blanket and a pillow to help with general care and comfort. For more extreme situations, we have included an emergency shelter, water-holding container, flash light and a rain poncho. To pass the time, there are playing cards, game books, crayons and writing accessories. To help carry these items there is a small sports backpack and a large convenient duffle bag
